Procedures to Host a Parade in the City

You must follow these procedures to request a street closure to host a parade within the City limits of Big Lake:

  1. Present a request letter to the City Secretary with all of the following pertinent information:
    • Type of event and sponsor
    • Date and Time of event
    • Route of the event
  2. The City Secretary will place a resolution for parade on the next regular meeting agenda of the City Council.
  3. After resolution has passed, you must contact the Reagan County Sheriff Department asking for traffic control on the day of the event and provide the Sheriff Department with all of the following pertinent information:
    • Type of event and sponsor
    • Date and Time of event
    • Route of the event
  4. The City Secretary will forward an application to TxDot for temporary closure of a State Highway (if applicable).
  5. TxDot will or will not approve the request and return application to the City.
Parade requests can take up to three (3) weeks to process, so please begin the process early.
