    The City of Big Lake operates an Animal Control Shelter which provides shelter for stray animals, and animals under quarantine. Animal Control promotes adoption of unclaimed animals and provides ethical and humane care and treatment for all sheltered animals.

  4. Code Enforcement

    It is the responsibility and duty of Code Enforcement to visually and physically inspect residential and commercial properties for compliance with city codes, zoning ordinances and construction codes.

    The function of the Gas Department is to install, maintain, repair, and rehabilitate the city’s gas distribution system. This system is composed of gas lines, mains, valves, vents and gas meters. The purpose of the distribution system is to provide safe gas delivery to the public.

  6. Sanitation

    The purpose of the City of Big Lake Sanitation Department is to provide safe, efficient removal of residential and commercial refuse. It is also the responsibility of this department to maintain and replace dumpsters as needed.

  7. Street Department

    The Street Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of the city streets, alleys, and traffic and street signs.

  8. Wastewater Treatment

    The purpose and function of the Wastewater Treatment Department is to receive and treat the spent water from a community containing the wastes from domestic, industrial, or commercial use, as well as the surface water runoff and groundwater which may enter the system through infiltration.

    The function of the Water Department is to maintain, repair, and rehabilitate the city’s water distribution system.
